About Freshie

Located 17km north of the Sydney CBD, Freshwater, affectionately known as ‘Freshie’, is a much-loved Northern Beaches suburb with a world-famous beach wedged between two iconic headlands. Known as the birthplace of surfing in Australia, Freshwater was named a National Surf Reserve in 2010 and a World Surfing Reserve in 2012.

Home to a vibrant laid-back village that echos the area’s creative soul; with a diverse array of cafes, innovative restaurants, intimate bars, and fine dining, all championing fresh, local produce and seasonality. Freshwater pulses with an effortless energy, making it a must-visit destination that has something for everyone.

Established in 2023, the Freshwater district receives support from the NSW Government, it’s run by local businesses, Freshwater Sub-Comittee members, and operates as a not-for-profit association.

With it's laid-back lifestyle, night time experiences, great food, delicious drinks, beautiful beach, boutique stores, and focus on wellbeing, there are so many ways to enjoy Freshie.

Keep it Fresh.
